Dear Families,
Hard to believe another week of school has passed already! Students completed their first week of word study and had their first spelling quiz this morning. They will bring their quizzes home on Mondays to be initialed and returned. A reminder that any incomplete word study work goes home Thursdays and are due Friday mornings.
We had our first library period today where students were able to sign-out "just-right" books. I strongly encourage students to read for pleasure daily! In Math, we have been rounding 4-digit and 5-digit numbers to the nearest 10s, 100s, 1000s and 10 000s. Next week we will be working with decimals. In Literacy, we continue to develop our reading strategies, cursive and have just started our first writing form - "recounts." We have also begun our Grade 4 and Grade 5 units in Social Studies, Science and Health. This afternoon, we continued our basketball unit in gym in preparation for Junior Boys/Girls Basketball Tryouts beginning next week and joined our "study buddies" in Mrs. Kutcy's class where we assisted them in logging onto Chromebooks properly.
Looking forward to meeting all of you Thursday night!
Mr. Bristow
